Pakistan skipper http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Misbah-ul-Haq-c1972 wants his batsmen to give a good start at Wellington
Just ahead of Pakistan’s second Test against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/New-Zealand-c754, the Pakistan skipper Misbah-ul-Haq has urged his batsmen to take some responsibility and sensibly score runs in the upcoming Test. The two teams are due to meet each other at Wellington from the 15th of this month.
Misbah while talking to the press said, “If you look at our batting in the first Test, a lot of us got starts and nobody went on to score a hundred,” the middle order batsman further said, "What I would like to see is for our batsmen, myself included, to ensure that we make full use of our good starts, and ensure that we bat for long periods. If a similar situation to Hamilton presents itself, we should ensure that we earn a bigger lead than 92. I really want our batsmen to make sure that the good starts are not wasted."
Speaking about his plans for http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755 skipper made it clear that his side would definitely be going for a win. Pakistan would want to win the Test series owing to the fact that the visitors lost the three match Twenty20 series.
However, Misbah’s men gave a commendable performance in the first Test at Hamilton where they defeated the hosts by ten wickets on just the third day of the game. During the Hamilton match Pakistan batted tremendously well and managed to score a total to 367 runs after New Zealand had scored 275 in their first innings. The home team was however, taken aback in the second innings when they were halted by the impressive Pakistani bowling, limiting them to only 110 runs.
The visitors then scored 21 runs in the second innings without losing a wicket, bagging the first match of the two Test match series.
After this victory Pakistan skipper, is pretty confident of his side’s chances in the second Test and wants to win the Wellington Test which will be an important victory for Pakistan before going into next month’s cricket world cup.
Misbah said, “Our best policy for the upcoming match at Wellington will be to go for a win, rather than just consolidate our one-nil lead. I want my team to perform well, play good cricket and look to wrap up the series two-nil."
