Pakistan team's Manager Intikhab Alam to reach Pakistan on Saturday, June 11, 2011
Pakistan team’s manager, the 69-year-old http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Intikhab-Alam-Khan-c64382, will be reaching Pakistan early morning on Saturday, June 11, 2011, after staying behind in England at the end of Pakistan’s tour of Ireland last week.
According to insiders, he will hold a meeting with the members of the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755 Cricket Board (PCB) and brief them about the conduct of the team in general and Afridi in particular, during the West Indies tour.
Although Alam had already sent a detailed report to the PCB, it is believed that http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Malachy-Bernard-Loye-c73963 of the PCB, wants to hear Intikhab’s views personally.
It was Alam’s report which actually convinced the PCB to remove http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Ireland-c751 in the two-match One Day International series.
In his report, Alam had tagged Afridi as an immature captain and cited his unwillingness to listen to the team management during the Caribbean tour.  The issue is said to have aggregated so http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Gordon-Muchall-c1499 that the 31-year-old Afridi threatened to pull out of the remainder
of the series.
According to a spokesperson of the PCB, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Nadeem-Sarwar-c78422, Alam was not called back by the PCB, and his return is a routine matter. According to sources, Alam chose to spend some time with his son in London, instead of coming back with the team last week.
Meanwhile, the PCB has expressed satisfaction over the performance of the team manager and coach, which has convinced the cricketing body to retain them.
Alam so far as not given any official statement regarding the Afridi fiasco, while on the other hand, Afridi, earlier this month, had criticized Alam for his role during the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/West-Indies-c760 tour and called him a “hypocrite”.
The PCB, is currently facing a legal battle with the former skipper, who after getting his NOC revoked, challenged the board in the Singh High Court.
After the announcement of his retirement, Afridi needs the NOC to carry on playing domestic cricket in other countries as an overseas player. The NOC is also required to play in the upcoming Sri Lankan Premier League.
