Pakistan team not bothered about the spot-fixing controversy – Misbah ul Haq – Cricket News Update
Captain of the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Misbah-ul-Haq-c1972, has said that the Green Shirts are just focussing on their game and have nothing to do with the spot-fixing controversy that has wrecked the cricketing world since the last one year.
Pakistan team is currently playing a full-fledged series against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/United-Arab-Emirates-c3033 (UAE), and the Men in Green have won the Test competition by a margin of 1-0.
On the other side of the coin, one of the darkest chapters in the history of Pakistan cricket saw its climax earlier this month, as three of Pakistani cricketers, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mohammad-Amir-c76675 have been sentenced to jail for their involvement
in the spot-fixing controversy, during the tour of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/England-c56013 in 2010.
Cricket analysts predicted that the Pakistan team would struggle at the International level because of this huge controversy; however, quite ironically, the Green Shirts have done exceedingly well in all the formats of the game since then.
Misbah claimed that the key behind Pakistan’s success since the last one year has been the fact that the players have been concentrating on the game rather than the off-field happenings that have damaged the reputation of cricket in the world.
The Pakistani skipper feels, "The most important thing is for the team to focus on our performance and ensure that we play good cricket. The team must focus on our cricket and only on our cricket."
The Green Shirts have not lost a Test series since the last one year, and have also won their previous four bilateral One Day International series. The Men in Green also qualified for the semi-final of the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/ICC-World-Cup-2011-c100625 Cricket World Cup 2011 in the sub-continent.
"The last year and a half the team has done very well in all formats of cricket. The priority and attention has to be on playing good cricket and that is what we have been trying to achieve. All of the players are putting other things to the back of their
minds and concentrating only on cricket," Misbah added.
