http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755 to Convince the International Cricket Council to help Resume International Cricket
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is desperately seeking the resumption of international cricket in the country, which has been put all halt since 2009. The current regime, under Chairman http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Ijaz-Butt-c64128 has increased its efforts to convince other countries to
send their teams to play in the country.
According to latest developments in this regard, it has been learned that after facing rejection from http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sri-Lanka-c758 Cricket to tour Pakistan this year, the PCB has decided to convince the International Cricket Council and its member cricket boards to permit
their second-string and junior teams to play in Pakistan.
It is believed that the officials in the PCB see this to be the only strategy that will lead towards the resumption of international cricket in the coming years.
Revealing details of PCB’s new strategy, a source on the condition of anonymity said, “The PCB officials will be meeting with other board officials on the sidelines of the board meeting to get them to send their junior and A- teams to Pakistan. In this sense
the visit by the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Afghanistan-c745 team is a big plus point for us."
This month the Afghanistan national team became the first international squad in almost two years to tour the country, which played three one-day internationals against Pakistan A. However, the tour was a low profile event and failed to convince other nations
to follow suit.
“For us it is a matter of taking small steps at a time to convince the cricket world that despite the security issues Pakistan is capable of hosting international teams safely," a source added.
Earlier in 2009, Pakistan cricket was shocked when the touring Sri Lankan team was ambushed in a failed terrorist attack, in Lahore when they were on their way to the Gaddafi Stadium to play against the hosts. Luckily no Sri Lankan lost his life, however,
seven members of the touring team received injuries while eight Pakistanis lost their lives.
The series was immediately called-off and since then international teams have avoided the terror hit country, forcing the PCB to look for neutral venues to play home events.
In 2010, Pakistan chose to host a series against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/South-Africa-c757 for a full series. Hosting home tournaments abroad has proved to be extremely expensive for
the PCB, causing the board to suffer major financial loses.
Nonetheless, after tiresome efforts, it seems as if the PCB has no other option but to continue hosting home events in a third country to keep Pakistan cricket alive.
After the world cup 2011, PCB expressed hope towards resumption of international cricket, sighting a series against Sri Lanka and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750. However, critics believe that after the Sri Lankan refusal, it will be highly unlikely for India to tour Pakistan at
least this year.
