Pakistan Cricket Board, PCB, is looking forward to appoint a new bowling coach for the national team before they gear up for their upcoming tour against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sri-Lanka-c758, starting on June 01, 2012.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Intikhab-Alam-c64380, the director PCB, has told that eleven candidates have applied for the post, where the applications are currently under evaluation. Both local and foreign applicants have shown their interest to coach the national side,  with the final decision
to be made within the coming weeks.
“We’ll convene a meeting this week. It will be crucial since we’ll shortlist the candidates. Hopefully, we’ll complete the process and announce the coach within a couple of weeks,” told Alam while talking to The Express Tribune.
The post was left void by the former coach, Aqib Javed, who stepped down from his position in February this year after being offered the vacant head coach position of the UAE national team by the Emirates cricket board.
In an attempt to provide immediate guidance to the team following the humiliating ODI and Twenty20 defeats against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sarfraz-Nawaz-Malik-c88831, as a bowling consultant.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Bangladesh-c747. The results were mixed – while the side went onto lift the trophy, the bowlers (fast) failed to impress, which included
a disappointing loss at the hands of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750 where they failed to defend a 300-run par score.
The board therefore, remains eager to appoint a bowling coach before the upcoming tour, allowing the new mentor to get acquainted with the ideas and philosophies of the team, currently working under the Sri-Lankan born mentor, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Davenell-Frederick-Whatmore-c52571.
Among the local contestants, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sabih-Azhar-c87765 names’ are under consideration, while from abroad, Bazeegh Zaka (the Maldives coach) and Ian Pont’s, the former Bangladesh coach are being reviewed.
According to a board official, Mushtaq Ahmed, who is currently the bowling consultant of the England team, is the strongest contender for the job and reportedly, has met Zaka Asharaf in this regard.
