Chaudhry Zaka Ashraf, the Chairman of Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), has revealed that the proposed Pakistan Premier League (PPL) is not going be a copy of the Indian Premier League (IPL), and Pakistan will come up with innovative ideas for the proposed competition.
No international cricket has been played in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Bangladesh-c747 cricket team was scheduled to visit Pakistan this month but the tour could not go ahead because
of an intervention by the Dhaka High Court.
However, PCB is now working on organizing a cash-rich league, so that it can attract foreign players to come and play in the country, which may pave way for the revival of international cricket in Pakistan.
Some of the cricket analysts have accused PCB of copying the Indian brand of franchise cricket but the Chairman PCB has made it clear that Pakistan will bring a lot of innovations in the league and it will not follow the IPL. Ashraf claimed that a number
of international media organizations are interested in getting the television rights for the league.
"This is a wrong impression. We are working on delivering a innovative and exciting PPL but it would not be on the exact model of the IPL. Nimbus made a presentation regarding the league earlier this month. There are a few other companies in the picture
as well," the Chairman PCB said.
Ashraf further added that PCB has not even decided about the name for the league but some of the pundits feel that PPL will be a good one. He is hopeful that the league organized by PCB will gain a lot of popularity.
He added, "We are not going to call it Pakistan Premier League as some people have been suggesting for quite some time now. We are still in the process of finalizing a name that is good enough for what we hope will be an innovative and exciting league."
Many cricket playing countries have started to give a lot of importance to domestic T20 tournaments but let us hope that international cricket does not lose its identity.
