Following the postponement of the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755 Champions League. The event is scheduled for a May 20 start, where all matches will be played at the Rashid
Latif Cricket Academy (RLCA) grounds in Korangi and Gulberg, Karachi.
The tournament includes 32-club level teams, featuring domestic sides, along with four international clubs - Canada’s http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Afghanistan-c745 Youth Cricket Club.
The local participants include teams from Lahore, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Hyderabad-c792, Rawalpindi, Abbottabad and Fata.
The winners of the tournament will be awarded a sum of $20,000, while the runners-up will be given $10,000. There are also prizes for the losing semi-finalists, who will be distributed $2000 each.
The idea behind inviting the foreign teams was floated by former wicket-keeper and skipper http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Rashid-Latif-c84084, who requested the respective clubs to participate in the T20 competition, and help Pakistan in convincing other cricketing nations to come and play on
their home turf.
“The idea behind this tournament is to play a little part in helping Pakistan cricket and that’s why international clubs have been invited. I’m sure this event will leave a huge impact and all those people who think Pakistan cannot host international matches
safely, will have to think again,” said Latif.
The right-handed wicket-keeper batsman further added that he can also entice renowned international stars to take part in the exciting event, provided the PCB is willing to put in some sound investment.
“The PCB should splash out a handsome amount of money. That way, the foreign players won’t be able to turn down PPL,” added Latif.
PCB chairman Zaka http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Ashraf-c46397 had earlier revealed his plans to organize a Pakistan Premier League in October this year, which be conducted on the same lines as the Indian Premier League.
Latif strongly believes that PPL has the potential to attract international players and therefore, has advised the PCB to vest all its effort in making the tournament a success.
