Pakistan v Bangladesh: 3rd ODI – Match Recap
Pakistan crushed Bangladesh by 58 runs in the final One Day International (ODI) of the three match series at the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Zahur-Ahmed-c98518 Chowdhury Stadium, Chittagong in Bangladesh on Tuesday, December 6, 2011.
The tourists were bowled out for 177 runs in 46.1 overs and it seemed that the Bangladesh side had an opportunity to finally win a match in the series.
However, the Pakistani bowlers proved to be too good for the opposition and managed to win the match comfortably in the end, claiming the series by 3-0.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Misbah-ul-Haq-c1972, the home team’s skipper, opted to bat first after winning the toss. He expected the pitch to slow down with the passage of time.
There were two changes made in the Pakistani line-up, as http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sarfraz-Ahmed-c88818 for the final ODI.
The opposition also made a couple of changes, bringing http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Rubel-Hossain-c2378.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mohammad-Hafeez-c76898 was dismissed without scoring in the very first over.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Younis-Khan-c98325 steadied the innings with a 37-run stand for the second wicket. However, the former was sent back to the pavilion after adding just seven runs to the total from 23 balls.
Younis was also unable to carry onto the start to his innings, getting dismissed for 26 runs. He was batting decently, but gave his wicket away, attempting a slog-sweep.
All of a sudden, the Men in Green were three down for 39 runs with two new batsmen Misbah and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Umar-Akmal-c94595 at the crease.
However, the pair batted sensibly, scoring 94 runs for the fourth wicket. Their partnership looked threatening for the opposition, but wickets started tumbling during the batting power-play.
Misbah was unable to capitalise on the start he got to his innings and got out in the first over of the power-play after contributing 47 runs to the total.
The lower-order failed to make an impression, as wickets kept on tumbling towards the end of the innings.
Akmal managed to score 57 runs, but was unable to bat until the end and the entire team was dismissed for 177.
The home team’s spinners did a fabulous job and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Abdur-Razzak-c41688 was the pick of them, taking three wickets.
Bangladesh’s run-chase did not start ideally, as opener http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Shahriar-Nafees-c2486 and Mahmudullah gave momentum to the innings with a 69-run partnership for the second wicket.
The innings came to a halt for a short while due to power failure in the stadium and this turned around things in Pakistan’s favour.
Bangladesh never really managed to hold things together after the downfall of Nafees and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mahmudullah-c1877 and the entire team was dismissed for 119 runs in just 38 overs.
Pakistan’s all-rounder Hafeez bagged three wickets in the match, as the hosts completed their 22nd consecutive victory over http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Bangladesh-c747.
