Alastair Cook, the opening English batsman, was feeling dejected after missing out on a Test century against Pakistan in Abu Dhabi. The English opener fell six runs short of what would have been his 20th ton in Test cricket.
Cook toiled for a tough 94, but fell 6 short of a century to equal http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Saeed-Ajmal-c87859, trapped him Leg Before Wicket (LBW) in the 75th over. This was the fourth time he had
been dismissed in the 90’s.
“It's always frustrating when you've worked so hard for a milestone, to fall just short of it. It's disappointing when you don't get it, because you know it took five hours to get there. But it beats last week, when I got three and five,” said Cook.
After losing the opening fixture to Pakistan in Dubai, the Poms bounced back strongly on the first day, restricting the Men in Green to 256 for seven. England had the perfect start on day-two as they dislodged the remaining three batters while conceding
just one run.
England did not make an encouraging start, as they lost their skipper http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Abdur-Rehman-c41691,
who till then had batted beautifully with Cook.
The Poms were poised to score big but Pakistan gained the initiative back from the English. When it looked like the tourist will close day two on top, the Pakistan team fought back, claiming three wickets in 10 overs for just nine runs.
Ajmal once again exhibited the same magic that he did in the first match and claimed all three wickets that fell.
Despite losing three crucial wickets, Cook believes that his side has not thrown away the advantage. The left-handed batsman said, “I wouldn't say we've thrown it away. We're only 50 behind, and we've got http://www.senore.com/Cricket/MJ-Prior-c1984 - excellent players - at the
crease, and our lower order did well in Dubai. In the absolutely ideal world, you'd be sitting here with two or three down. But credit to the way Pakistan bowled in that last half-hour, and made it extremely tough.”
