Pakistan v Guyana- Misbah ul Haq steers http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755 to shores of safety
Pakistan posted a big score of 330 runs for the loss of seven wickets before declaring their first innings in a warm up match against Guyana at Bourda, Georgetown, Guyana.
The star of the show for Pakistan was none else than their captain, Misbah ul Haq, who scored a brilliant hundred to put his team in a commanding position.
Misbah won the toss and elected to bat first on a batting track at Guyana, which did not have much for the bowlers. Both teams are allowed 12 players in this practice game, while only 11 can field.
The Men in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Khan-c71319 has withdrawn himself from the Test series after the sad death of his brother.
Pakistan were off to a very solid start through their openers, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Azhar-Ali-c46890, as both of them saw off the new ball without much trouble. Hafeez has been in sublime form throughout this tour, whereas Azhar is now a prolific batsman for Pakistan
in Test cricket.
Hafeez and Azhar accumulated 92 runs for the first wicket but the Cornered Tigers were soon in a spot of bother with three top order wickets down for only 136 runs on the board.
However, Misbah took control of the situation from then onwards and made sure that he steered his team to the shores of safety.
Misbah played a captain’s knock and scored a brilliant hundred but he did not get enough support from the other end. The disappointing thing for Pakistan was the fact that majority of the top order batsmen were off to good starts but failed to carry on and
convert their starts into big scores.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Umar-Gul-c94604 showcased his batting skills and helped his captain score a magnificent hundred. Gul and Misbah put on 86 runs for the eighth wicket partnership before Pakistan decided to declare their innings.
Misbah remained the top scorer by far as he scored 101 unbeaten runs while Gul remained not out for his timely 40. Hafeez and Azhar scored valiant half centuries to help their team’s cause.
Right-arm leg-spinner, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Amir-Khan-c43996, was the pick of the bowlers for Guyana as he claimed three wickets after giving away 88 runs in his 26 overs. Zaheer Mohamed picked up a couple of wickets, whereas Ronsford Beaton and Keon Joseph took a wicket each.
Although Pakistan posted a very good score on the board, there are many concerns for them in the batting department. The young batsmen will have to raise their game and make sure they put a price on their wicket, especially after the departure of Younis
Khan.
It provides an ideal opportunity for the likes of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Umar-Akmal-c94595 and Azhar Ali to prove their mettle at the highest stage of the game.
