Pakistan v India - http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Rashid-Latif-c84084 advise the people to take it as a game – Cricket News Update
Former Pakistani cricketers have urged the people from India and Pakistan to take the upcoming fixture between the two countries in the Asia Cup 2012 as a game of sports and not like a war.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750 will be up against each other today in an all-important match of the Asia Cup and in case of a Pakistani win, India will be effectively out of the tournament.
Historically, the neighbouring countries have not shared friendly relations and that political tension has always reflected in the field of cricket as the people from both the countries do not expect their teams to lose while playing against each other.
This atmosphere provides an opportunity to the young players to become heroes overnight. However, in case of a loss, players can also become zero from hero.
Former Pakistan captain, Javed Miandad has expressed that tension between the two teams will be evident in today’s fixture as they do not play each other regularly. However, the legendary batsman advised the people from both countries to take things in a
light manner as it is only a sport at the end of the day.
Miandad said, "Obviously it is going to be a tough encounter and both teams will want to win since they are playing for the first time since the 2011 World Cup semi-final. But emotions must be kept in check."
Another former captain, Rashid Latif, has also given the same kind of a message to the people, but he hopes that the cricket fans will witness a crunch match.
"It should be an interesting match, but in the end we must remember all the time it is just cricket and a sport and not war," expressed Rashid.
Rashid further added that the matches between India and Pakistan bring a lot of interest into the game, and this is precisely the reason why cricket is so popular in the sub-continent.
"People in both countries watch such matches with a lot of interest. I have seen when such high-tension matches are played even the people who normally don't follow cricket are glued to the happenings," former wicketkeeper added.
