Pakistan v Sri Lanka: 1st Test – Day One Summary

The Men in Green dismissed the opposition for 197 runs in their first outing on day one of the five day match. They also had to bat out a few overs, which they managed without any troubles, ending the day on 27 for no loss.

Sri Lanka were in a spot of bother with three wickets down for less than 100 runs. However, the team’s skipper Dilshan and veteran batsman http://www.senore.com/Cricket/DPMD-Jayawardene-c1397 looked to give some momentum to the innings.
The former was unlucky to be dismissed, as he was adjudged caught behind to a ball he had missed completely. He scored 19 runs in his short stay at the wicket.
Then came a match turning spell from youngster http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mohammad-Junaid-Khan-c77037, who took three wickets in a span of two runs. The batsmen to fall included the big wicket of Jayawardene, who scored 28 runs.
All-rounder http://www.senore.com/Cricket/AD-Mathews-c913 scored a solid half-century, guiding his side’s first innings total to 197 in the end. He remained unbeaten on 52 with the help of four fours and one massive six.
However, the star of the day was Junaid Khan, who claimed his first five-wicket haul for Pakistan. The team’s openers http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Taufeeq-Umar-c92889 ended the day on 17 and 8 respectively with the team trailing by 170 runs.
