Pakistan v Sri Lanka Live cricket update: ICC World Cup 2011 report
UPDATE: Pakistan (277 for 7) beat Sri Lanka (266 for 9) by 11 runs.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755 has posted a very competitive score of 277 runs for the loss of seven wickets against Sri Lanka in a crunch match of the group ‘A’ in the ICC World Cup 2011 at Colombo.
Both these teams are likely to qualify for the quarter-finals but the result of this game is bound to affect the standings of the teams after the group stage.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Green-c60723 were off to a flying start as Ahmed Shehzad and Mohammad Hafeez played their shots at will and gave early momentum to the Pakistani innings, before Shehzad played one shot too many.
After Shehzad’s departure, Hafeez and Kamran Akmal combined together and played some stunning shots.
However, both of them lost their wickets in a very soft manner to leave the Cornered Tigers in a spot of bother.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Misbah-ul-Haq-c1972 and Younis Khan showed why they are considered as the most dependable batsmen in the Pakistani ranks. Both of them scored 108 runs for the fourth wicket partnership, which laid the platform for the big hitters to come at the depth of the innings.
However, the Men in Green could have done much better in the last 10 overs as Misbah, Umar Akmal and Shahid Afridi did not find much momentum in the batting power-play.
Sri Lankan spinners did a good job by limiting the runs in the middle overs as Muralitharan and Herath gave away only 35 and 46 runs respectively, whereas the latter picked up a couple of scalps as well.
Kulasekra and Parera were expensive at the start of the innings but they made up for that at the later stages of the innings.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sri-Lanka-c758 has never defeated Pakistan in a World Cup match but the current Sri Lankan team is much different to what it was a couple of decades ago.
It would be very hard for Sri Lanka to chase down this total in such a big match but they have a balanced batting line-up and anything can be expected from the likes of Sangakara, Dilshan and Jayawardena.
We will be back with more updates as soon as Sri Lanka starts their innings.
