Pakistan v West Indies - Darren Sammy blows away Pakistan's batting to help http://www.senore.com/Cricket/West-Indies-c760 go 1-0
West Indies have beaten Pakistan in the first Test by a comprehensive margin of 40 runs in a low scoring encounter at Guyana.
Darren Sammy answered his critics in style as he led his team from the front and broke the back of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755’s middle order, which was looking promising at one stage.
Pakistan started the fourth day’s play on 80 for the loss of three wickets but they lost an early wicket in the form of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Asad-Shafiq-c46208, who was bowled by Ravi Rampaul after adding only two runs to his overnight score.
However, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Umar-Akmal-c94595 and Misbah ul Haq formed a brilliant partnership to shift the momentum in Pakistan’s favour once again.
Both of the them scored 52 runs for the fifth wicket partnership before Misbah was trapped in front of the wickets by Sammy.
Pakistan’s batting fell like a house of cards after the departure of their captain and as a result they were bundled out for a mere 178 runs in their second innings.
Misbah remained the top scorer for Pakistan with 52 runs off 162 balls in which he struck six fours and a huge six off the bowling of the young Devendra Bishoo.
Akmal also shined with 47 runs which came off 102 balls with the help of three boundaries. Asad Shafiq was the only other notable contributor with a well made 42 for 110 balls.
Sammy remained the pick of the bowlers for the West Indies as he grabbed a five-wicket haul after giving away only 29 in his 17 overs.
Rampaul was brilliant in this Test match. He picked up four wickets in the second innings to go with his three scalps in the first one.
West Indian captain was named as the Player of the Match for his outstanding spell of medium pace bowling. He has been criticized recently for underperforming and many of the cricket pundits in the Caribbean feel that Sammy does not hold a position in the
side as a player.
However, he has answered his critics in style and would love to be more consistent at the highest stage of the game.
