Pakistan v West Indies – First ODI - Preview
West Indies and Pakistan gear up for their first One Day International at Gros Islet, St Lucia.
The last One Day International (ODI) between the two unpredictable sides resulted in a humiliating 10-wicket defeat for the West Indies. That particular loss was not only humiliating but resulted in the Caribbean Kings exit from the World Cup 2011.
Now West Indies have a chance to settle scores against the Men in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Green-c60723. Pakistan’s tour to West Indies involves one T20 international, five ODIs, and, two Test matches.
The first T20 between the two sides was won by the hosts, as they cruised to a seven run victory over their South Asian visitors.
Both sides consist of young players, as most senior players from both sides are either on rest, or, have been dropped from the team after their weak performance in the ICC World Cup 2011.
From Pakistan, Umar Gul, and, Younis Khan, have been rested, while iron-gloved Kamran Akmal, and, veteran all rounder, Abdul Razzaq, have been dropped from the team.
On the other hand, West Indies will also miss the likes of their explosive opener, Chris Gayle, “Mr. Dependable” - http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Shivnarine-Chanderpaul-c90073, and, Ramnaresh Sarwan.
A glance at the recent T20 between Pakistan and West Indies again revealed the batting weakness for the Cornered Tigers, when it came down to chasing a total. A challenging total of 150 runs was too much for the visitors to handle.
The only promising innings came from Umar Akmal in the form of 41 runs, and the Pakistani tail wagged, which resulted in a close finish to the encounter.
The young Caribbean Kings certainly got the better the young Cornered Tigers in their T20 encounter.
Riding high on the confidence of their T20 victory, the Windies will be looking to dominate the ODI series.
Chris Gayle is not available, giving Marlon Samuels an opportunity to make a victorious comeback. Samuels returns after he recently served a two year ban due to his alleged relationship with bookies.
For Pakistan, Umar Akmal is the man that has the ability to win the match for his side. Akmal is the talk of the town due to his potential of scoring quick runs in a short period of time.
Both teams are filled with new talent from top to bottom but both have one thing in common, inconsistency. http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755 can beat any team on any given day but their sloppy fielding often costs them the game.
But on paper Pakistan seems to have more chances of winning and even whitewashing the series against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/West-Indies-c760.
