Pakistan's tour to West Indies took off with the T20 International played at http://www.espncricinfo.com/west-indies-v-pakistan-2011/content/ground/59518.html, on the 21st of April 2011.
The West Indians thrashed Pakistan in the maiden T20 international by a mere margin of seven runs.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/West-Indies-c760 after winning the toss opted to bat first and posted a total of 151 for the men in green.
Pakistan, in pursuit of the seemingly reasonable target, started their innings with openers Ahmed Shehzad and Mohammad Hafeez.
The openers, however, failed to provide Pakistan with the start they would have liked.
Pakistan lost their first wicket with just seven runs on the board when Mohammad Hafeez was caught out at deep square leg off the bowling of opposition Skipper, Darren Sammy.
The youngster, Asad Shafiq stepped in after Hafeez fell, however, his partnership with Ahmed Shehzad was a trivial one.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/R-Rampaul-c2233. Shehzad only managed to score 12 runs off 15 balls.
The very talented, Umar Akmal was up next, he and Shafiq played a responsible innings and took Pakistan’s score to 49.
The partnership was going well untill Asad Shafiq was caught at short mid-off by DP Hyatt off the bowling of D Bishoo. http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Shafiq-c89281 scored 25 runs off just 17 balls hitting three boundaries and a six.
After the wicket of Shafiq, Pakistan’s Test Captain http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Misbah-ul-Haq-c1972 came onto the crease but could not open his account. He was a bit unfortunate to be out rather in an unusual way, out hit-wicket off the bowling of D Bishoo. He stepped way back to play a short ball and hit the stumps with his foot hard enough to send him back to the pavilion.
However, two quick Pakistani wickets did not deter Umar Akmal, he kept on playing responsibly and smashed the West Indian bowlers all around the park.
The Skipper http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Shahid-Afridi-c2482 came on after Misbah’s departure, he smashed a boundary in his 12 runs off 10 balls but was caught splendidly at extra-cover by his counterpart Darren Sammy off the bowling of D Bishoo.
After the Skipper fell, the lower middle order, comprising the young blood, namely Mohammad Salman, Abdur Rehman and Wahab Riaz, could not even manage to reach double figures before walking back to the pavilion.
Umar Akmal, mistakenly assuming a free-hit, played a rash shot and was caught out in the deep mid-wicket area.
Infact, the no-ball was called out for a field-setting violation rather than the bowler popping the crease. Free hits are only awarded when a bowler pops the crease, resulting in a no-ball.
Unfortunately, Akmal was dismissed at 41 runs off 41 balls, unable to complete his half century.
Towards the end, the off-spinner Saeed Ajmal tried his best in a losing cause, Ajmal fought till the end with the rookie Junaid http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Khan-c71319 at his side, but all was in vain as Pakistan lost by a mere margin of seven runs.
Ajmal performed surprisingly well, scoring 21 runs off just 14 balls, hitting two boundaries and remained unbeaten till the end.
The West Indian leg-spinner D Bishoo was declared Man of the Match for his four wickets in the match.
