Pakistan’s Test match against Zimbabwe in the midst of controversies – Part 4
Pakistan after being bogged down by the hosts on the first and second day of the only Test against Zimbabwe, bounced back on the third day as they batted superbly well against a reasonable bowling attack.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Azhar-Ali-c46890 initiated the day’s proceedings as both batsmen had their eyes set on the target of 412 runs that was posted by Zimbabwe.
Perhaps the Pakistan management should look into to eliminating the problems in the bowling department that let Zimbabwe post a tally beyond four hundred. For a team like Pakistan to concede so many runs against a meager outfit should be a cause of concern
for the people sitting in the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).
However, the hosts had run out of luck as they failed to stop the batting onslaught unleashed by the Pakistan batsmen, who made mincemeat of the Zimbabwean bowlers by playing shots all around the park.
Pakistan opener Hafeez was the obvious difference between the two sides as he showed tremendous touch with the bat and made excellent shot selection as he batted during the course of time.
Zimbabwe finally grabbed their first wicket of the day in the 59th over when Hafeez, who after playing a stupendous knock of 119 runs off 177 deliveries, was caught by http://www.senore.com/Cricket/H-Masakadza-c1517. At the
time of his departure, Pakistan had managed to post 196 runs on the board.
After Hafeez veteran Younis Khan came out to bat and crafted a mature partnership with Azhar.
The partnership came to an end after posting 22 runs when Ali after scoring 75 runs off 193 deliveries was caught behind by http://www.senore.com/Cricket/T-Taibu-c2630 off the bowling of Lamb. At this point in time Pakistan had managed to post 218 runs for the loss of three wickets.
It was then time for skipper http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Younis-Khan-c98325 to make the life of the Zimbabwean bowlers a living h**l.
The experienced duo posted 100 runs together in the fourth wicket partnership.
Pakistan then ended the third day after scoring 357 runs for the loss of five wickets and then on the fourth day managed to post a humongous tally of 466 runs before losing all their wickets.
With a formidable target ahead Zimbabwe began the innings, hoping to draw the match; however, they were left flabbergasted by the Pakistan bowling which restricted the batsmen from dictating terms and took wickets at regular intervals.
It was pleasantly surprising to see Pakistan bowlers back to their best as they annihilated the opposition on a meager tally of 141 runs giving the Pakistan batsmen an easy target of 88 runs to win the game.
From Pakistan pacer http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Aizaz-Cheema-c961 and Mohammad Hafeez grabbed four wickets each in the second innings.
Meanwhile, the Pakistan batsmen finished the job by successfully overcoming the target for the loss of three wickets.
Pakistan continues to amaze the world by their unpredictability and with so many controversies still surrounding them; it is a pleasure to watch them win on foreign lands.
Perhaps former English skipper http://www.senore.com/Cricket/England-c56013 the number one team in Test cricket had they not been entangled in controversies.
