Pakistan v Zimbabwe – Test Series – 3rd Day’s Summary

Zimbabwe 412 v Pakistan 357/5 (120.1 ov) - Pakistan trail by 55 runs with 5 wickets remaining in the 1st innings
Having ended the second day after posting 116 runs on the board for the loss of a wicket, Pakistan resumed their first innings on the third day of the only Test against hosts Zimbabwe at Queens Sports Club, Bulawayo.
From the tourists, it was http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Azhar-Ali-c46890 who was on 27 started the day’s proceedings as both batsmen aimed to overcome the tally of 412 runs, posted by the hosts.
Unlike the first day, the hosts seemed to have run out of luck as they failed to halt the batting onslaught of the Pakistan batsmen, who clobbered the opposition early on, taking the sting away from the Zimbabwean bowlers.
Hafeez was the obvious difference between the two sides as he exhibited tremendous strokes all around the park, stamping his dominance against the opposition.
However, it was in the 59th over when the hosts finally managed to break the partnership which was turning out to be dangerous as they managed to grab the wicket of Hafeez, who after playing a stupendous knock of 119 runs off 177 deliveries was
caught by http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755 had managed to post 196 runs on the board.
With Hafeez decommissioned, it was time for veteran http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Younis-Khan-c98325 to take the crease to craft a handy partnership with Ali on the other end. However, after posting only 22 runs together, the partnership came to an end when Ali after playing an innings of 75
runs off 193 deliveries was caught behind by the Zimbabwean wicketkeeper http://www.senore.com/Cricket/T-Taibu-c2630 off the bowling of Lamb. At this point in time Pakistan had managed to post 218 runs for the loss of three wickets.
After Ali, skipper http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Misbah-ul-Haq-c1972 came on the field and together with Khan forged an inspiring partnership as the duo halted the Zimbabwean bowling onslaught, preventing the hosts from carrying out further damage.
This was certainly a testing time for the Zimbabwean skipper http://www.senore.com/Cricket/BRM-Taylor-c1200, as he needed to stop the veterans from forging a formidable partnership in order to keep his team in the game after Zimbabwe had shown exceptional talent in the batting department
by posting a huge total against a very formidable bowling outfit.
Misbah and Younis went on to post 100 runs together in the fourth wicket partnership, leaving the hosts wounded and in disarray.
It was in the 104th over when Lamb finally managed to break the daunting partnership as he took the wicket of Misbah, who after playing a well tamed innings of 66 runs off 110 deliveries was caught by http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Brian-Vitori-c1198 at short fine-leg.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Khan-c71319 unbeaten on 61 off 193 deliveries.
From http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Zimbabwe-c3045, Lamb was the pick of the bowlers as he took three wickets in 20.1 overs and conceded 85 runs.
