Pakistan volleyball team to leave for Dubai today
Pakistan Volleyball team is up for another challenge as it leaves today for Dubai to participate in the 12th Al-Rashid Volleyball Championship 2010 scheduled to be held at the United Arab Emirate's city from 8th-13th October,
2010.
Other than Pakistan and the hosts, UAE; four more teams would also hit the podium. These include Egypt, Lebanon, Tunisia and India.
Pakistan Volleyball Federation has already announced the team for the event which is headed by the manger, Mohammad Iqbal Khan while the coach, Augusto Sabbatini and assistant coach, Mazhar Hussain are also in the squad.
Muhammad Ismail Khan has replaced Zaheer Abbas as the new team captain while rest of the line-up includes Nasir Khan, Muneer Khan, Muhammad Razzaq, Farooq Khan, Syed Shuja Abbas, Mohib Rasool, Asif Nadeem, Zaheer Abbas, Ajmal Khan, Pir Bukhsh Yasin and Imdad
Hussain.
Volleyball experts believe that the game has recently suffered a lot in Pakistan. The greens lost all of their matches last month, at the Asian Central Zone Volleyball Championship held in India and returned home heavy headed.
After this event, the team coach Sabbatini had said that, “All my training went down the drain mainly because of consistent travelling and consecutive matches against the opponents.”
“The players could not sleep for more than 40 hours. First there was a visa delay and later we had to travel through bus from Islamabad to Delhi. We then took a flight to Kolkata the very same day”, he had argued.
But now, another opportunity awaits the Greens as Al-Rashid Championship seems to be a perfect chance for them to gain some repute. For the moment, the team looks determined. Let us hope it delivers this time.
