Pakistan vs. India: second innings – 30 to 50-overs Report – ICC World Cup 2011
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Misbah-ul-Haq-c1972 was content with rotating the strike. The Indian bowlers were not too worried either, as they had the Pakistani’s under
control when it came to the run rate.
The match was nearing its crunch stage and the pressure was mounting on both sides. Umar Akmal relieved some of that pressure when he helped the ball over the boundary for an audacious one handed six. The shot left http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Yuvraj-Singh-c98364 a little less than amused.
The Indians did not have to wait long though, as http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Harbhajan-Singh-c61453 had Akmal clean bowled in the 34th over after another choice of poor shot selection had him on his way back to the pavilion. Akmal seemed to be in fine form and it was a huge loss
of a wicket for his side, but an even bigger gain for India.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Shahid-Afridi-c2482 with Pakistan needing to quickly recover from the loss of Akmal’s wicket. Much was expected of the hard hitting Razzaq, but he failed to live up to expectations.
Munaf Patel bowled a peach of a delivery that beat Razzaq and went on to hit the off stump. Razzaq had a flustered expression on his face and rightly so, it was a sublime delivery. The wicket left Pakistan reeling and at 150 for the loss of 5 wickets and
with the required run rate at 8.07 runs per over the match seemed to be slipping away from the Pakistanis.
Yet http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750 knew they had not won the match yet, as inspirational Captain Shahid Afridi made his way onto the crease. Afridi’s form when it came to batting in the ICC World Cup 2011 may not have been the best, but his mere presence was enough to make a few
players and plenty of fans nervous.
Afridi seemed to be in good touch, as he played some good cricket, but Harbhajan Singh had the last word when his full toss was mishit by the Pakistani captain. The ball went up in the air and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Virender-Sehwag-c95429 made no mistake with the simple catch that had
presented itself to him.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Ashish-Nehra-c46293, Wahab reacted and sent the ball skyward and when it came down it fell straight into Tendulkar’s hands.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Umar-Gul-c94604 soon followed, as he departed for two runs when he was out leg before wicket by Nehra. Misbah-ul-Haq could do little from there on, but he made a brave half century before he was out in the penultimate ball of the over to send India into their third
World Cup final in front of their home fans.
