The http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Green-c60723 shirts are currently visiting New Zealand for a full fledge cricketing tour. This tour comprises of three T-20 Internationals which have ended in a 2-1 win for the black caps. The remaining part of the tour includes two Test matches starting from
7th January followed by six One Day Internationals.
Pakistan played the three T-20 Internationals under the captaincy of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Shahid-Afridi-c2482. But the team lost the first two T-20 International matches owing to poor batting performances and sloppy fielding. The Black caps on the other hand were hoping to perform
better on their home soil after devastating defeats at the hand of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/New-Zealand-c754 Cricket Board replaced him with former
batsman John Wright.
The first T-20 was played at Eden Park http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Auckland-c766. Pakistan started the tour with high hopes after a turbulent year that saw as many as three players lost their positions due to spot fixing scandal. Pakistan Coach Waqar Younis and Manager Intikhab Alam vowed
that team shall play as a unit and tight scrutiny would be exercised regarding players off the field activities. The first T-20 kicked off with Pakistan playing first and making a dismal total of 143 runs at the loss of nine wickets in the allotted 20 overs.
The Black caps in reply chased the target in 17.1 overs with five wickets in hand.
The second T-20 was played in Seddon Park Hamilton. New Zealand batted first and posted a huge target of 185 runs hammering Pakistani bowlers all over the park. All the top order of New Zealand team contributed with the bat. Pakistan in reply was restricted
to just 146 runs for the loss of nine wickets in full 20 overs. New Zealand won the match by 39 runs and took an unassailable lead in the series.
The third match was played in AMI stadium Christchurch. Pakistan batted first and thanks to some good batting by the Pakistani Openers managed to score a sizable total of 183 runs in 20 overs. What followed was so far Pakistan’ best performance in the current
series as kiwis batting line up collapsed. Four top order batsmen went for a duck the whole team succumbed to 80 runs in 15.5 overs. Scott Styris was the only batsmen who offered some resistance but could not stop the Pakistani onslaught. Shahid Afridi captured
four scalps and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Razzaq-c84421 who made 30 odd runs with the bat grabbed three wickets for just 13 runs. He was also named Man of the Match.
Pakistan must take a lot of courage from this performance in the third and last T-20 match as it has to play two Test matches and six ODIs in the coming days.
