http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755 vs. South Africa, 3rd ODI 1st Innings: Pakistan Bowling Report – Shoaib Akhtar in form
Pakistan produced a well-disciplined bowling performance in the first innings of the 3rd ODI against South Africa. The Proteas ended their innings on 228 for the loss of 9 wickets at the end of allotted 50 overs. Pakistan
captain Shahid Afridi seemed pleased with the total, bearing in mind that he had won the toss and opted to bowl first.
The men in green did look upbeat and carried on the momentum they got from the win in the 2nd ODI (all thanks to Abdul Razzaq’s heroic efforts). There was only one change from the 2nd match: http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Misbah-ul-Haq-c1972
was sidelined and left-handed Imran Farhat was brought back. As the South African innings started, Shoaib Akhtar looked raring to go and in good form. The speedster bowled at some serious pace but also with control. The new shortened run up seems to be working
well for the Rawalpindi Express.
After pushing Jacques Kallis back with a good short ball, Akhtar pushed in an excellent slower ball which Kallis dragged on to the stumps before even getting off the mark. Shoaib continued the good work and in his next over bowled
another peach of a delivery; it was once again a well-disguised slower one. Left-handed batsman Colin Ingram pushed it straight back and Akhtar made no mistake in catching off his own bowling. Ingram scored just 4 runs and the score was 15 for the loss of
2 wickets. From then on, Hashim Amla and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/AB-de-Villiers-c887 put together a good stand of 42 runs for the 3rd wicket. In the 16th over, De Villiers (19 off 40 balls) was given out in suspicious circumstances: wicketkeeper Zulqarnain Haider
appealed for a stumping off the bowling of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Shahid-Afridi-c2482. The replay from the side showed his foot grounded behind the line but the view from the stump camp told another story. He was given out eventually by the 3rd umpire.
After that, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/David-Miller-c53105, did not last long and
was cleaned up after scoring just 6 runs by Hafeez at the end of the 29th over.
Out of form Albie Morkel came in and nudged it around for ones and twos, but as soon as he decided to go for a big one, he was caught in the deep off the bowling of Afridi for just 19 runs (off 39 balls). While wickets were falling
at one end, Hashim Amla continued to add runs calmly on the other end. The opener went on to complete his 5th hundred in this calendar year and 6th in total. Amla remained unbeaten at 119. Shoaib Akhtar came back for his final spell and
along with Wahab Riaz did a good job in containing the African side (Akhtar accounted for http://www.senore.com/Cricket/South-Africa-c757 ended their innings at 228 for the loss of 9 wickets.
