Pakistan whitewash Singapore by 6-0 in Junior Asia Cup
The Greenshirts under-18 boys maintained their winning-streak in a spectacular style, defeating Singapore by 6-0 in their third game at the Junior Asia Cup hockey tournament which is being played at Sengkang Stadium in Singapore.
Greenshirts have qualified for the semi-final and are leading the points' table by nine points with one game still remaining against the Kazakhstan which will be played today.
The Pakistan outfit continued their astonishing play in the third game as they displayed a classy performance in their first two games against Brunei and Taiwan in which they defeated their opponents with heavy margins of 18-0 and 17-0, respectively. The
third match was not as goal-studded as the first two, however an impressive victory for the Greenshirts that have now scored 41 goals in three games, while they did not concede even a single goal in this whole scenario.
Pakistan, the defending champions, started the match as expected and scored two of their six goals in the first half. The hosts too played well and did not allow Greenshirts to penetrate into their circle frequently and that’s why, the Greenshirts could
score only two goals in first 35 minutes. The score was 2-0 to Pakistan at the interval.
In the second half, the Greenshirts exhibited their class and skills in scoring the remaining four goals, while they looked more aggressive in that time. Bilal Qadir was the star performer for the Greenshirts with a wonderful hat-trick, while Waseem Abbas
scored two goals and Arsalan Qadir made a single strike.
“The most satisfying thing in our performance so far is our defence,” Rana Mujahid, the chief coach of the green shirts stated his views after the match.
“I am very happy with our performance especially after our match against Singapore which was highly anticipated and was a pressure match. Hopefully the team will continue their good form in the later stages of the tournament,” he further stated about the
performance and especially with reference to defence the team.
The Greenshirts will play their final group match against Kazakhstan today.
