Pakistan will miss the services of five important players in World Cup 2011
Pakistan will in most probability miss the services of five key players for the world cup which include the tainted trio of Salman Butt, Mohammas Asif and Mohammad Amir along with wicket keeper batsman Kamran Akmal and leg spinner Danish Kaneria. Sources
within the PCB have stated that the International cricket council has advised http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755 not to include players who are under suspicion of corrupt practices and match fixing in the preliminary 30 member squad of the World Cup. This squad is scheduled to be finalized
by the 19th of December.
The source confided that despite attempts from the PCB to seek clearance for Kamran Akmal, they did not get a very favourable response from the ICC. Danish Kaneria is also expected to be excluded from the World cup squad.
“The advice is not to select these two while the suspended trio of Salman Butt, Muhammad Asif and Muhammad Aamer are also out of contention for the World Cup. There is fear in the cricket hierarchy that with doubts still existing over the conduct of Akmal,
Kaneria and the suspended trio also under a spot-fixing cloud, these five should not be selected in the World Cup preliminary squad,” the source claimed.
At the same time it was also learnt that Shoaib Malik the former captain of the Pakistan cricket team might also find his place in the international squad in jeopardy, despite his performances in the domestic circuit. While there was still some hope of the
former captain being selected, Kaneria and Akmal are completely out of contention for a spot in the national side for the esteemed World Cup event.
The PCB along with its selectors are in the process of discussing and deliberating upon their options for finalising the squad for the tour of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/New-Zealand-c754 along with the preliminary 30 member squad for the world cup. Numerous meetings in this regard have
taken place between the chief selector, coach Waqar Younis and team manager Intikhab Alam.
The source stated that without getting clearance from the ICC it will be very hard for the PCB to select the players who are still shrouded under the cloud of suspicion. In the series against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Danish-Kaneria-c1314 missed out from
making it to the squad and the board did not explain their ouster.
