Pakistan will most likely play Australia in Sri Lanka this August – Cricket News Update
Pakistan has not hosted a home series since the fateful day of March in 2009 when the visiting Sri Lankan team was attacked by armed militants on their way to the Qaddafi stadium Lahore. This incident has meant that Pakistan plays his home series in distant
lands, with the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/United-Arab-Emirates-c3033 being the preferred choice.
The home series against Australia however will be played in Sri Lanka and the cricket boards are putting the final touches to make the series happen.
"http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sri-Lanka-c758 Cricket had expressed the desire to host the series to the PCB a month ago and both boards have no problems with it. I do not know about the stand of the other cricket board [CA] yet," Ranatunga said.
The Australian cricket board also issued a statement saying, "http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755 has kept us up to date on its plans for hosting the series they are due to play against us later this year and we are happy with the progress they are making, and with their consultation
with us as they move through that process."
Initially the two countries that were being considered for the series were http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746 but the Pakistan Cricket Board settled on Sri Lanka, due to cricketing and commercial reasons. It also makes it easier for fans to travel to the island
nation to witness the games.
The matters that need to be settled are the finalisation of the dates and the minor details of the tour. The discussions are ongoing and it is a matter of time before the matter is settled and the exact dates are confirmed.
The plan is for Pakistan and Australia to play a five match One Day Internationals and three Twenty20 matches. Initially the two countries were going to be play just a solitary T20I but the T20 World Champion takes place in Sri Lanka in September and with
this in mind the boards of the two countries’ have decided to add two more T20Is.
Pakistan and Australia played a Test match against each other in Colombo in 2002. The last series these two countries played was in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/England-c749.
