http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Ireland-c751’s women by nine wickets in their last pool match and grabbed the 2011, Women s’ Quadrangular Series by securing the top position in the tournament.
They played three matches, won two, and, one match ended without a result due to weather, and they got one point out of that.
Sri Lanka stood second by acquiring three points, Ireland held third position, and, the Dutch were at the bottom.
The match was played at Thurstan College Ground, Colombo on 29th April, 2011, restricted to 23 overs per side due to rain interruption.
Ireland’s women scored 68 runs in 22.1 overs. Laura Delany was the top scorer with 20 runs followed by Clare Shillington, who contributed 19 runs, and, nine of their batters could not enter double figures.
Pakistan’s bowlers restricted the Irish batswomen and got them out for a small total but they delivered 13 wide balls. http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Bismah-Maroof-c48136 was their star performer with the ball, who tore through the batting and pocketed four wickets.
Pakistan started their innings in a positive manner but lost their first wicket when the total was 13 runs in 3.3 overs. Opener, Nida Dar, scored seven runs.
The ever reliable Javeria, who opened the innings with Nida kept on scoring briskly when Bismah Maroof joined her.
The pair batted brilliantly and kept the score board moving by finding in the gaps. Ireland’s Captain used six bowlers to dislodge the partnership but was unable to get the required break through.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Javeria-Khan-c66603 regained her lost form and demonstrated an excellent inning as Bismah kept one end secured, while ticking some runs as well. The pair saw Pakistan’s Women through to a well deserved victory after thrashing 70 runs in just 13.3 overs.
Javeria remained unbeaten on 47 runs off 50 balls with the help of three fours and her counterpart Bismah scored 12 runs off 22 balls.
Irish bowler, Amy Kenealy, got the only wicket that fell.
Pakistan won the match comprehensively by nine wickets with 9.3 overs to spare.
