The http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Bangladesh-c747. The list includes some new names with some usuals, but the name of former captain Shoaib Malik is nowhere to
be seen while another player who was awaiting clearance from PCB, Kamran Akmal, has just been given the green light. The list will obviously be trimmed down to 16, as the world cup approaches even closer. But for now, the National Selection Committee has put
forward the names of the best available players.
At a glance, the list looks like a pool of some talented but inexperienced players, blended together with some old heads. Generally it makes for a lethal combination but sadly for Pakistan this has hardly been the case, especially in recent times.
First of all, let us take a look at the openers in the list; Muhammad Hafeez is the first man on the list. Hafeez has been a much improved player and even though Taufeeq Umar is also in the list, Hafeez would always be the senior one out of the 4 openers.
The other 2 consist of right handed, Ahmad Shehzad, who is talented but reckless and needs some work on his rough edges, and Nasir Jamshed, the aggressive left hander who came to the team, made an impact, and disappeared.
The middle order comprises of former captain, Muhammad Yousuf, who would certainly be integral in terms of providing some experience to the team. The elegant right hander has had his share of controversies and fake retirements, but the fact remains that
he is a class act and if he has his head in the right place he can be a corner stone around which Pakistan can build their innings.
The next man is Younis Khan. He is also most likely to be named in the final 16. Another former captain, Younis has been known for his short tempered attitude and non serious approach to the game. The gutsy right hander has 2 double centuries to his name,
and with Yousuf, can provide a solid platform for the big hitters down the order in the world cup.
Misbah ul Haq is a man who can be best described as an enigma; the 36 year old looks to have 2 extreme ways of going about the game. One is pure defence and in his shell, while the other is going after the bowling all out. If Younis and Yousuf are both in
the team, Misbah would be a misfit. If either of the two is not selected or unavailable, then Misbah can give the much needed solidarity to the middle order.
The next man in the list is Umar Akmal, a player who has been heaped with more praise than any batsman from his generation. Umar Akmal was described as the best batsman to have come out of Pakistan after the great http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Inzamam-ul-Haq-c64383. However, the youngster is
yet to prove those claims. He has shown flashes of brilliance in all 3 forms of the game, but still needs to show some consistency to prove his worth. One thing is for sure- if he puts his talents to good use he sure can be a match winner all on his own on
any given day.
3 other players listed in the probables may not really have a chance of going to the world cup, especially considering the names mentioned before them. Azhar Ali and Asad Shafiq have both played at the highest level for Pakistan, but probably would have
to wait for their turn or hope for an injury for one of the players mentioned above.
