http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755’s world cup probables was put on hold after the initial meeting of the national selection committee, due to delay in clearance from PCB for certain players. The name of Kamran Akmal was among those players, but the wicketkeeper has been cleared
and has made the 30 man squad. The aggressive right handed wicketkeeper batsman has been not that impressive with the gloves, but his ability with the bat has kept him in the team for this long. Questions remain about his reliability behind the stumps, but
yet again he may have the edge over the rival keepers in the list due to his batting prowess. Alongside Kamran Akmal, there are 2 more names in the list. Sarfaraz Ahmed, the right handed opening batsman/wicketkeeper is also in the list. http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sarfraz-c88817 has been on
the fringes for a while and has only been able to make random appearances. He must be waiting for his chance and probably would be more hungry then Kamran to prove his worth. Kamran, on the other hand, seems to be holding on to the tail end of the rope in
the team, and would really have to come to the party to cement his place. The jury is still out on Kamran but once again he has been cleared and included in the 30 man squad.
The 3rd wicketkeeper in the list is an unknown name- http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Salman-c88163 Ahmed. The youngster is unlikely to make it in unless both of the senior keepers have an injury or are unavailable due to some other reason.
The all rounders category is probably one that picks itself; 4 names are mentioned from which 3 will most probably be selected. The first two names are ones that would be the first two names on a T-20 or an ODI squad for Pakistan. Captain, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Shahid-Afridi-c2482
is the first all rounder and with him being the skipper he is a sure shot pick. The right hander who made a name for himself 14 years ago with the fastest century in ODI’s in his first innings, has never been able to come out of the shadow of that hundred.
Every time he comes out to bat people expect fours and sixes, and maybe when he even decides to play steadily the roars and chants of the crowd get the better of him and he ends up lobbing one deep. The way he played in the semi final and final of T-20 world
cup in 2009 was a great example of how a player like him can be a match winner not just with big hits, but with good use of his temperament and ability. Despite his poor ODI average and his turbulent temperament, he remains a threat to any opposition and can
turn a match on its head with his bat when it is his day. But that is just half of Afridi; he is also a very under rated leg spinner. With his googlies, quick leg breaks and darted in quicker ones, he can be hard to handle, especially on subcontinental tracks.
The next man in the list is one of the most destructive players- Abdur Razzaq. The right hander is someone who has shown many times that he can just win a match all on his own, but sadly that happens once in many games. On other days, he is good enough for
20-30 runs at the end of the innings at a strike rate of 150-300. While his bowling has faded way in recent years, he remains a potent new ball bowler and can do a good hold up job.
The other 2 All Roudners in the list are http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Yasir-Arafat-c98241 and Rana Naveed. Arafat is one player who has been in and out of the team a number of times, but has failed to impress in both departments. His claim to fame has normally been exceptional performances
in the English county circuit but he has failed to bring the same game to international level. Rana Naved has been a much improved player in recent years, but like many others he has had problems with discipline and only just got the green light from the board.
