Pakistani Players yet to get BPL dues – Cricket News Update
The Pakistani cricketers, who participated in the inaugural http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Bangladesh-c747 Premier League (BPL), are waiting for the organizing authorities to pay up their outstanding dues.
The players have only received twenty five percent of the total amount, while the remaining sum was expected to be paid in the subsequent 40 day period, following the conclusion of the event.
"We are still waiting for something to happen. The point is that because we also have to look at our livelihood for the future there is nothing much we can do except to keep on reminding the Bangladesh Cricket Board and respective franchises to clear the dues," said an unnamed player who participated in BPL.
He further revealed that according to his contract, the concerned authorities were suppose to make one-quarter of the payment at the beginning of the tournament, the other twenty-five percent in the middle of the event, while the rest was due to be paid after the competition.
However, according to FICA (international players union), players should get 25 percent before the start of the event, 50 percent during it, and 25 percent at the end.
Despite such ruling, only a handful of foreign players have received 75 percent of the payment, while the rest have only received 25 percent so far, whereas no player has received full payment.
One of the reasons behind the delay has been the degree of complexity regarding the transfer of funds (dollars), as the Bengali government keeps monitors every transaction closely.
According to experts, the holdup has left a bad impression on the players after they had made a telling contribution in making the event a success. It will further jeopardize the future of the league – discouraging international stars from participation.
Despite such concerns, The players, who were signed between the range of USD 25,000 to 50,000, are still optimistic that the issue will be resolved in the coming days, as the BCB had already guaranteed them that they will be getting their dues if the franchises default.
In addition, FICA has also approached the BCB in this regard.
