Pakistani batsmen should take a leaf out of Inzamam ul Haq’s book, says http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Kamran-Akmal-c70122 – Cricket News Update
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755’s out of favour wicketkeeper/batsman, Kamran Akmal, believes that the country’s batsmen must learn from Inzamam ul Haq as he was brilliant at chasing totals under trying circumstances.
The Green Shirts are currently in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sri-Lanka-c758, where they levelled the T20 series but are struggling to deliver the goods in the 50-overs format. The home team is currently leading the five-match series 2-1, with the last game scheduled to be played today
at Colombo.
In the fourth One Day International (ODI) of the tour, Misbah ul Haq’s men succumbed under pressure and failed to chase down a mediocre score of 243 runs, set by the Islanders.
Historically, Pakistan have never been a good chasing team but their record in the second innings in the recent past has been getting worse. A number of former cricketers have slammed the Green Shirts for their lack of application after a sensational defeat
in the fourth ODI.
Kamran, who has been out of the national squad since his poor performance in the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/ICC-World-Cup-2011-c100625 Cricket World Cup 2011, has defended his colleagues and expressed that any team can go through a bad day and the fans must show some patience.
He said while talking to Pakpassion, “You don’t become a bad cricketer overnight. The guys are trying their best in Sri Lanka and I’m sure they will do well in the rest of the series. Sometimes the pressure of the situation leads to mistakes especially
when a team is chasing.”
The 30-year-old confessed that the Pakistani batsmen often fail to handle the pressure in the second innings. However, he thinks that the former skipper, Inzamam ul Haq was excellent when it came to chasing totals as he could read the situation efficiently
and never allowed his nerves to get the better of him.
The wicketkeeper urged the Pakistani batsmen to learn from the legendary cricketer in order to enhance their game.
“I don’t think Pakistan has a psychological problem with run chases, it’s more about coping with the pressure of chasing a target. Inzamam ul Haq was the perfect role model when it came to run chases and I think the current team should take a leaf out of
Inzamam’s approach,” Akmal added.
