Former Pakistan captain, Javed Miandad, slammed the national team which is currently touring http://www.senore.com/Cricket/West-Indies-c760, for being inconsistent.
The visitors were headed towards a whitewash series win after defeating the hosts in the first three One Day Internationals (ODIs). However, the batting flopped miserably in the final two games, allowing West Indies to spoil their winning streak.
A furious Miandad stated, “We can never be among the top teams in the world because we are just not consistent enough. For the last two years we have been losing or winning by close margins. To lose against a weak side like West Indies is unacceptable by
any standards.”
He further added, “Against a weak opposition top batsmen always try to score tons of runs. But surprisingly our batsmen kept on struggling against this attack. If a batsman needs to be coached at this level he should not be in the team at all.”
Former player, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Misbah-ul-Haq-c1972 for his batting performances, but claimed
the team was dependant on him.
Misbah scored well in the first three games, guiding his side to victory. However, the team was unable to cope with pressure once he got out early in the final two encounters.
Another former cricketer, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Abdul-Qadir-c41605, was also unhappy with the team’s inconsistency and he demanded urgent changes. He claimed that the team had missed out on an opportunity to win the series 5-0 and it was high time to give a chance to some of the promising
youngsters.
Qadir also slammed skipper, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Shahid-Afridi-c2482, who had a poor series overall. The veteran all-rounder managed to score just 28 runs and claimed two wickets in the five games played.
Former chief selector, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Salahuddin-c88062 Ahmed, blamed head coach, Waqar Younis, for the poor performance of the bowlers. He claimed that bowling was equally bad as batting in the series, which was totally unacceptable.
There were also reports of an ongoing feud between Afridi and Waqar, which might have been the reason for the team’s unimpressive show.
