Pakistani players to get central contract soon – Cricket News Update
Pakistan national cricket team players are waiting to get their dues, along with new central contracts following the return of chairman http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Ashraf-c46397, from International Cricket Council’s annual meeting in Dubai, held on April 14, 2012.
Following the expiration of their previous agreement with the board, on December 31st, 2011, the players are yet to receive payments for the subsequent four-month period – including series against England and the most recent Asia Cup. Both outings
yielded successfull outcomes for the Green shirts, where they managed to whitewash the Poms in the Test series and despite a poor showing in the limited overs leg, they went on to claim the Asia Cup by beating hosts http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Bangladesh-c747 in the final.
"The dues include the match fees and other payments of the series against Bangladesh, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/England-c56013 and the Asia Cup while the central contracts given to players last year also expired on December 31 and for the last four months the players have also not got their
central contract monthly retainers," one source said.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Nadeem-Sarwar-c78422, the PCB spokesman however, provided assurance that the players will be paid a certain proportion in the coming days.
"And the players will get their central contract retainer payments from January 1, 2012 whenever the board announces the new list of centrally contracted players," Sarwar said.
The delay, disappointingly, remains a usual practice according to the PCB spokesman. He added that such incidents had occurred earlier during the tenure of previous chairman, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Ijaz-Butt-c64128, with the main reason being the precarious financial position of the
board, mainly owed to their inability to host matches on home turf – knocking out a sizeable revenue stream for the PCB.
However, it has been reported that the PCB has managed to recover sufficient money from the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/ICC-World-Cup-2011-c100625 after the highest governing body deprived the country from co-hosting the 2011 World Cup and the Champions Trophy, along with the home series since 2009.
The PCB further shed light on forming a committee, which intends to pass on recommendations in regards with forming a stable central contract system, and will further ensure that the players get their remaining dues. In addition, the committee will propose
a pay rise of 20 to 25 percent – in recognition of the outstanding work done by the Men In Green on the cricket field in the past four months.
