Pakistani selectors looking to prepare for the South African tour – Cricket News Update
According to sources, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is going to offer central contracts to http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mohammad-Talha-c77400 for the on-going year, although they were ignored initially.
The board announced the list of centrally contracted players in May, throwing in some surprises, and inviting criticism from different ranks. Sami, who was named in the team for the Sri Lankan tour in all three formats, was not handed a contract.
On top of that, Talha, the fast bowler from Faisalabad, was also ignored, despite some brilliant performances in the domestic cricket since the last couple of seasons.
Kamran has also been out of the national team since the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/United-Arab-Emirates-c3033 in September.
An authentic source from the board, on the condition of anonymity, disclosed that the above mentioned players are likely to get central contracts, once the Chairman PCB, Zaka http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Ashraf-c46397, arrives back home.
"A decision on offering central contracts to additional players will be announced after the approval of Chairman PCB Zaka Ashraf after his return from abroad, currently on vacations in the United States," the source said.
He also expressed that the selectors are concerned about the Green Shirts’ batting, especially because of the forthcoming tour of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755 batsmen’s on pitches which
will favour pace and bounce.
The source further added that the selectors opted for http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mohammad-Ayub-c76805 and Afaq Rahim (the two brilliant performers of Pakistan’s domestic cricket) in the Test team to strengthen their batting line up. Some of the other players will also be called for
a camp, which is likely to be organized in the National Cricket Academy (NCA) shortly.
“The idea is to start rebuilding the batting line up by adding fresh players,” he added. “That is one reason why the selectors have also picked the top performers of the last domestic season to attend a conditioning camp at the national cricket academy.”
