  1. Depends where [which province] you live in Pakistan. then you most likely speak that local language.

Pakistan has four provinces, Sindh, Punjab, Baluchistan and N.W.F.P.
    Also controlling part of Kashmir.

The main languages are as follow.
    in Sind they speak SINDHI
    in Punjab they speak Punjabi
    in Balochhistan they speak Balochi
    in NWFP they speak Pashto
    in Kashmir ther speak Kashmiri

The dialect is different depends on which part of the area you live.

Now as every body speak their own local language, to combine them as a nation they are taught in schools in URDU language which is national and Official language of Pakistan and English is the equivalent official language i.e. most of the Government documents and Laws are written in English as well as in Urdu. however most of the bureaucracy [see meaning http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bureaucracy] is in English

Pakistan population is about 98% Muslim [Religion ISLAM]. any language they speak are written RIGHT to LEFT in ARABIC transcript. and to follow their religion they have to learn READING  Arabic to read the religious book QURAN [Like BIBLE for Christian] which is easy to READ [not understanding though] for any Pakistani who can read.

As Pakistan was Part of India upto 1947 so it is next to India and the area where countries are situated is called "INDIAN SUB-CONTINENT" in SOUTH ASIA.

In summary every EDUCATED Pakistan can READ (R), WRITE (W), UNDERSTAND (U) & SPEAK (S)  at least 3 languages
    1- Native Language e.g PUNJABI
    2- National Language - URDU
    3- Official Language - ENGLISH

and can READ & WRITE the 4th Language ARABIC
    AND
can UNDERSTAND & SPEAK only the 5th Language HINDI (Indian National Language same as URDU but not written like Arabic)

So it altogether minimum 5 language for a Typical educated Pakistani these days.
    In my case I can
    (RWUS) PASHTO, URDU, ENGLISH, and
    (RUS)  Punjabi
    (RW)   ARABIC
    (US)   HINDI

So A Pakistani is South Asian not ARAB.
Pakistani can read & write Arabic but might not UNDERSTAND or SPEAK
