Pakistan’s Junaid Khan ready to start training – Cricket News Update
Young Pakistani pacer http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mohammad-Junaid-Khan-c77037 has claimed that he has regained fitness and is ready to start training once again. He sustained an abdominal injury during the fifth One Day International (ODI) of the five match series against Sri Lanka in the United Arab
Emirates (UAE).
The left-arm seamer was a surprise selection in Pakistan’s http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sohail-Tanvir-c90665 back then, but did not get a single game throughout the tournament.
However, Junaid finally got his chance to represent the national side against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/West-Indies-c760 in a series held straight after the Mega Event.
The youngster was unable to make an impression straight away, but coach http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Waqar-Younis-Maitla-c96193 was quite impressed with his talent.
Before taking part in the Sri Lankan series, Junaid played some county games and impressed one and all with his accurate bowling. He also bowled with a decent pace, crossing the 90 miles per hour barrier on numerous occasions.
The 21-year-old was then back in action against Sri Lanka in a three match Test series and made the difference in the very first game, picking up a five-for.
He continued bowling with consistency throughout the longest version of the game and ended up with 12 wickets in three matches.
However, the left-arm seamer did not get much opportunity to showcase his talent in the ODI series. He finally got a chance to play the final game, but could only bowl a few overs before leaving the field due to an injury.
Things are now good for Junaid and he said, “My latest MRI scans are all clear but I am asking the doctor for advice and will return to the ground accordingly. But based on the initial response by the doctor, I should be able to start practice from December
13.”
On being asked whether he was a replacement for banned bowler Mohammad Amir, Junaid said, “I have my own standing in the cricketing world and have not been promoted to fill the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mohammad-Amir-c76675 vacuum. We both have been playing in the Under-19 team and each
of us has our own standing. I don't want to be linked with any one and wanted to make my own reputation.”
Junaid will now be aiming to be a part of the squad that plays a complete series against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/England-c56013 in UAE.
