Pakistan’s Preparations for Cricket World Cup unsatisfactory: http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Wasim-Akram-c96292
Pakistan’s former captain Wasim Akram has slammed Pakistan’s preparations for the upcoming Cricket World Cup. Akram feels that the preparations are not going in the right direction and it’s about time that Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) announces the names
of the 30 probables for the World Cup.
The team skipper http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Shahid-Afridi-c2482 and head coach Waqar Younis also expressed their dissatisfaction over the team’s preparations during the training camp in Lahore. Akram promptly supported the Pakistan coach and skipper by saying, “It is good they (Younis and
Afridi) have spoken the reality because it is a fact. Even, I feel our preparations are not up to the mark, it is better not to give false hopes to the people. I think the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has already delayed long enough the announcement of players
for the World Cup.”
Pakistan’s preparations have been marred by the fact that most of its players have so far not been cleared by the International Cricket Council (ICC) regarding their eligibility to play in the World Cup because of suspicions of being involved in match-fixing.
This uncertain situation has caused the PCB to delay the announcement of the 30 member preliminary squad for the World Cup, due to this, the team is still not mentally geared up to seriously start thinking about the World Cup.
Last week, Waqar Younis had expressed his impatience over the delay in the finalization of the preliminary squad of players. The coach suggested that ICC and PCB should finalize the players who will be available for the World Cup as soon as possible so that
the team can begin serious preparations for the World Cup.
Wasim siding with Waqar on this issue said, “I don’t see the purpose of wasting any more time. The players who are going to play in the World Cup should know where they stand and what are the expectations from them.”
The ICC is currently screening all the Pakistani players suspected of having any involvement in match-fixing. Those who are being cleared by the ICC are selected only by the PCB to play for the national team and up till now players such as Shoaib Malik and
Kamran Akmal have not been cleared by ICC.
This has caused a phenomenal dent in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755’s preparations since the country’s three premier players Salman Butt, Mohammad Amir and Mohammad Asif are already facing charges of spot-fixing, the hearing of which is due next month.
