Pakistan’s Umar Amin hopes batting clicks against England at Trent Bridge
Pakistan started off the first test in Trent Bridge on a high note by picking up early wickets. However, Paul Collingwood and Eoin Morgan scored an unbeaten partnership of 213 runs to place England in a very strong position at the end of day one. http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755’s Headingley confidence was turned down by the English pair as they ended the day on 331/4. Collingwood and Eoin were each given a life by Pakistani wicket keeper Kamran Akmal. Eoin was on 5 runs when Akmal failed to hold on to an edge off Aamer’s delivery. Kamran’s nightmares with the gloves continued as he missed a regular stumping when Paul Collingwood charged Kaneria.
Pakistani youngster Umar Amin thinks that Kamran will come back strong on the second day of the test match and will compensate his mistakes with quality batting. Amin said that they thought the UDRS appeals were very close and Akmal played a vital role in those two referrals. "I think the review system is good when it goes in your favour," he said. "I thought at the time they were out, but unfortunately, they weren't, so I just consider it a hard day at the office. The senior players gave their opinions about those incidents, and it was the keeper, who was the main man, but he's a very tough man and he'll come back tomorrow and try to compensate with his batting. I'm sure he'll do good tomorrow".
Pakistan’s batting line up has failed in recent times. Batsmen will have to perform well this time, if they are to save this match. Pakistan has been relying heavily on its bowling in recent times. Pakistan won its last outing against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746 in Headingley because of some superb bowling by Pakistani pacer, who bowled the Aussie team out for 88 runs.
Ricky Ponting after the defeat pointed out that Pakistan cannot win all matches with bowling alone and they need to improve their batting. Pakistan is currently playing a batting squad that is inexperienced. Their top test batsmen, Mohammad Yousuf and Younis Khan are out of the playing eleven on account of disciplinary issues.
Umar Amin, who is only playing his third test match, is hopeful that Pakistan’s batting line up will click this time and will compliment its bowling department. He thinks that it was a hard day for fast bowlers since there was nothing in the pitch for pacers. He hopes that Pakistani batsmen will take advantage of good batting conditions and will post a good score. "It has been a very tough day for us today, but days come like this," said Umar Amin. "We tried our best but unfortunately we didn't get wickets at crucial times. But we'll try to come back again tomorrow. It will be a new day and we'll try to stick to the basics. There's not much in the pitch, but we'll try to restrict them to as little as possible".
The pitch looked more suited for spinners at the later stage of the day since it was offering good turn to Pakistani spinners. Pakistan’s prime leg spinner http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Danish-Kaneria-c1314 failed to take any wicket on a favouring track. Danish had different phases during the day, a few of his spells were outstanding but most of his bowling looked out of rhythm. On one occasion, Kaneria was lucky to outplay Collingwood for a stumping but the wicket keeper failed to perform his regular stumping duty and the batsman was offered a lifeline.
Umar Amin said that his young side is in a learning phase and will grow with time. He hailed his team unity and the support players get from each other. "In cricket you learn every new day", said Umar. "We are http://www.senore.com/Cricket/A-Young-c41367 unit, and we're becoming more and more united. We back each other and our Captain, and we're becoming a very good unit. I think this is the perfect pitch for batsmen, so we'll try to make full use tomorrow. The key on this pitch is to stay on the front foot and manage the ball there. It won't be very difficult tomorrow".
