Pakistan’s Wasim Akram unhappy over http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Shahid-c89347 Afridi’s changing moods – Cricket News Update
Former http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Shahid-Afridi-c2482, who has recently expressed his desire of returning to international cricket.
Afridi had quit international cricket following his dispute with coach http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Waqar-Younis-Maitla-c96193 and the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).
However, Waqar stepped down from his job citing health issues and announced that the team’s tour to http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Zimbabwe-c3045 will be his last. Since he will not be a part of the team anymore, Afridi has shown keen interest in returning to the national side.
Although this was expected to happen, Wasim did not like the behaviour of his former team-mate. He stated, “Afridi is making things too complicated for the PCB. Cricket is a team game and not an individual sport. You have to treat the interests of the team
and the management above your individual preferences.”
Arguably the greatest left-arm pacer of all time further added, “His retirement has become a joke now. You will have difference with your coaches, chairman and with your colleagues but it should not show in your outlook. At the end of the day you are representing
your nation – Pakistan.”
Afridi had a rift with Waqar over selection matters and criticised the former fast bowler after returning from the One Day International (ODI) series against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/West-Indies-c760.
Talking to the media personnel at the airport, the veteran all-rounder slammed his coach openly. This was not a pleasing sight for the PCB, as Afridi went against the board’s code of conduct.
As a result of this breach, Afridi was sacked as the captain of Pakistan and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Misbah-ul-Haq-c1972 was given charge of the team instead.
The national team had to tour http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Ireland-c751 for an ODI series and the flamboyant player was named in the squad as a senior member. However, he was unhappy over the board’s treatment and quit all forms of the game in objection.
Pakistan will next play against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/United-Arab-Emirates-c3033 (UAE) and it will be interesting to see whether Afridi gets a recall for national duty or not.
Even if he does make a comeback, he will have to play under Misbah, who has done extremely well as a leader of the team in all three formats of the game.
