Pakistan’s former skipper Ramiz Raja happy over performance of emerging Aizaz Cheema – Cricket News Update
Pakistan former captain, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Aizaz-Cheema-c961’s talent.
According to the former opening batsman, the way the 32-year-old Cheema has been performing against Zimbabwe during the ongoing tour is exceptional.
He also expressed hope that Pakistan’s selection committee would acknowledge the performance of the right-arm seamer and will not ignore him.
Recently, the Sargodha-born pacer made his Test debut against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Zimbabwe-c3045 at the Queens Sports Club in Bulawayo.
Cheema was outgoing during the match, taking 4 wickets for 79 runs in the first inning, and picking 4 wickets for 24 runs during the 2nd inning, which compelled experts to appreciate his inclusion in Pakistan’s squad.
Earlier, many people were criticising the selection of Cheema, and have been raising questions over giving opportunity to the 32-year-old pacer rather than including more youngsters in the team.
According to the reports, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Waqar-Younis-Maitla-c96193 had conflict over the selection of Cheema in the playing XI for Bulawayo Test.
Misbah was not interested to pick him in the team; however, Waqar, who has always been in headlines for interfering in captain’s duties, favoured the inclusion of the pacer.
However, Cheema has proved his selection during the only Test, and also earned the opportunity to play the first One Day International of his career in the ongoing series against the Zimbabwean side.
Raja, who seems happy with Cheema’s performance, said that he was disappointed over the way the national selection committee had been ignoring the talented fast bowler.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Rameez-Raja-c2277, who played 57 Tests, and 198 One Day International fixtures for his country, earning 2833 and 5841 runs respectively, feels that Cheema has an outstanding career ahead of him in spite of his age factor.
A member of Pakistan’s World Cup winning squad in 1992, Raja advised Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to use Cheema with proper planning and consideration to prolong his career.
Cheema, who has been representing Lahore at the domestic level, played 63 first-class matches, and 32 List A games, picking 229, and 49 wickets respectively.
