Pakistan’s manager Intikhab Alam termed an Indian
Finally http://www.senore.com/Cricket/New-Zealand-c754.
It was nothing but a matter of amusement for the team and management to see their manager labeled as an Indian, since http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750 and Pakistan are arch rivals since their independence. The news broke when the press tried calling the manager but kept receiving
a message from his voice recorder which said that the manager of the Indian team was not available at the moment. On further investigations the Pakistan Cricket Board revealed that a phone company mistook Alam as an Indian and the matter was being sorted out
with the officials in New Zealand. When any country is on a tour, the host country basically provides the phone and other facilities to the visitors. However, it was an unintentional mistake by the organization concerned. A PCB source said,
“The telephone numbers are provided by the host country's board, which in this case is New Zealand Cricket and they are also responsible for providing all other details of the squad to relevant departments from which the touring side require services. In
Intihkab's case the telephone company was mistakenly informed that he is manager of the Indian team."
The touring management had to inform the New Zealand Cricket Board that their manager was not an Indian, to straighten the matters. Pakistan are currently struggling in the land of the Kiwis and such a goof up was perhaps just what the players needed to
lighten the mood. Pakistan have lost the three match Twenty20 series against the hosts and will be playing the third and final match of the series for pride, on 30th December.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Bangladesh-c747 and India. New Zealand have shown great resilience by winning the Twenty20 series against a team
which is generally considered a formidable opposition in the shorter version of the game.
Pakistan, on the other hand have shown a complete lack of professionalism, while playing against the home side. The visitors lost their only warm up match against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Auckland-c766 which should have triggered alarm bells in the touring management but Waqar Younis,
the head coach showed his satisfaction at the outcome of the warm up match and believed that his side would do well once the series got underway. Now the series has been lost, owing to the fact that Pakistan perhaps weren’t serious enough to win. All that
is needed now is for the management to focus on making a winning game plan for the two Test match series and then the six ODI series in New Zealand, to take home something positive from the tour.
