Pakistan’s suspended Trio desperate to play for the country
Pakistan’s spot-fixing tainted trio of Salman Butt, Mohammad Amir and Mohammad Asif is desperate to play again for the country after the International Cricket Council’s (ICC) spot-fixing hearing in Doha, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Qatar-c2986.
The players hoped that ICC’s anti-corruption tribunal would find them innocent and acquit all charges against them after which they would be able to resume their careers.
The tainted former Test captain Salman Butt said, “I have always played the game for the love of it and have never been involved in any wrongdoing, I am confident that I will soon be playing for my country. I have been practising all through this difficult
phase of my life so that whenever I am cleared I am able to play. This phase has taught me a lot of lessons and I hope I will learn from them.”
Butt has been the main suspect in this whole fiasco because it is believed that he was the closest to the bookmaker http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mazhar-c75448 Majeed (who bribed the players) and it was on his orders that the two pacers Mohammad Amir and Mohammad Asif bowled deliberate no balls
in a Test against England.
It was also Butt’s hotel room where the police found huge sums of money which the batsman claimed to have been for the wedding of his two sisters. According to details the cash was in different currencies which included 29,787 pound sterling, 12,617 US dollars,
24,300 UAE Dirhams, 26,015 Pakistani rupees, 350 Canadian dollars and 440 South African rand and 10 Australian dollars.
Butt presented different excuses for carrying so much cash during a tour of England; however the police were not amused.
The 18-year-old pacer Mohammad Amir acknowledged the fact that he was going through the toughest time of his life but was hopeful that he would get through this time and once again would be picked for the national team.
He said, “This is the toughest phase of my life. My elders tell me that such phases come in the life of a professional, so I am bravely facing this situation and will hopefully come out of it to play for Pakistan.” The lanky bowler went on to say, “I have
been watching matches and felt disappointed at not being part of the team, but I hope it’s a temporary phase and I will soon be playing for my country.”
The trio were suspended last year during a tour to England when a local tabloid “News of the world” revealed their involvement in spot-fixing in a match against the hosts. After these revelations the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755 Cricket Board (PCB) and the International Cricket
Council (ICC) suspended the players from taking part in any cricket event.
The ICC formulated and Anti-corruption tribunal to oversee a hearing of the spot-fixing case and decide the future of the suspended trio. The hearing is set to begin from the 6th of this month lasting till the 11th. After which if the
players are found guilty they would most likely face life ban from cricket with heavy fines.
