Pakistan’s wicket keeper Zulqarnain confirms death threats
Zulqarnain Haider, the Pakistan wicket keeper who disappeared before the final One Day International against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/South-Africa-c757 (ODI) during the U.A.E. tour and went to England for asylum, held his first press conference after his disappearance. In doing so, he
confirmed that he has been constantly receiving death threats to his family and himself.
The wicket keeper batsman suggested the ICC should "record all the players' phones and record where they are going", if they want to stop match-fixing.
He also said, "It was very hard for me when I got threats from one person in Dubai", he said. "I just felt very nervous that he gave me threats". Haider chose the venue, TKC restaurant in Southall, London, because it had provided catering to the Pakistan
team during its tour of England earlier this year.
Haider advocated that there are a lot of people involved in the fixing and, I want ICC to look into this ambiguous matter and he wanted to fully cooperate with cricket’s governing body. He did not blame anyone from the team because he did not want to say
anything bad about any of his team members.
He believed that the selectors and the management put faith in him and provided him the chance he deserved. In addition, the senior members and coach of Pakistan cricket team backed him to play well for the country.
Zulqarnain skipped to England for safety purposes. The 24-year old thinks that Britain is a much better place to hide and he will be out of danger. The authorities in Pakistan are not supporting him in this cause.
Pakistan’s federal minister for sport told the press in Pakistan that they are not going to support him any further as he has not done the right thing by escaping to England, without telling anyone.
Furthermore, the wicket keeper in reply, decided not to tell the cricket team’s management, because he wanted to take the whole burden on his shoulders, alone. He was concerned about his family in Pakistan. The http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755 player has two daughters and a wife
in the country. He wants the government to protect his family in his absence.
Previously, the Pakistan Cricket Board terminated his stipend contract, suggesting that the player has breached the contract of the cricket board.
Haider, who announced his retirement, since he fled to England, also indicated that he did not want to live in Britain permanently. He wants to come back to his native country to live his entire life in peace.
