Palace Moon seems promising for the Bluesq.Com Handicap at Newbury
Newbury will stage the Class 2 Bluesq.Com Handicap over six furlongs and eight yards on Saturday, 19th May. Fifteen four-year and older runners are participating in the race that carries £9,338 prize money.
Palace Moon, Fantastic Light’s seven-year-old bay gelding out of mare, Palace Street, won quite aggressively during the beginning of the new season and then eased off and lost miserably in the last two outings.
He captured the seasonal debut that was in the form of 32Redbet.Com Conditions Stakes on 22nd January at Kempton over seven furlongs. Coupled with Jim Crowley, the winner led the runner up, Elna Bright, by one and a half lengths.
The 13/8 favourite of the race, Nazreef, finished third in line.
Palace Moon then went on to monopolise the very next race too. He won the Get Your Bet On At Bluesq.Com Handicap on 11th February at Lingfield over six furlongs.
He yanked away the win from the runner up, Novellen Lad, by a length with Jim Crowley onboard.
The 100/30 favourite of the race, Santefisio, ended fifth on the track of eight.
His next two races were dreadful failures, first he ended last at Lingfield and then finished fourth at Kempton.
He could not strike a seasonal hat trick but did display the potential of claiming back to back wins. The last time that he raced at Newbury was back in 2010 and that too was nothing close to an achievement.
Fifth outing of the season and having missed two races in a row after being dominant in two will prompt him to take away the race today.
Another note worthy entry who has been fairly consistent through the two seasonal starts is Whaileyy, Holy Roman Emperor’s four-year-old bay gelding out of mare, Alshoowg.
He won the welcoming race of the new season, the Florence Moore Big Birthday Handicap on 26th January at Kempton over six furlongs by leading the final 3 ¾ lengths with Adam Kirby onboard.
Finishing second was Earlsmedic while the 9/2 favourite of the race, Taajub, ended fifth.
He then scored second in the William Hill App – Download Today! Handicap on 10th March at Wolverhampton over six furlongs. The 4/1 joint favourite of the race, Alben Star, won the race.
