Palate expander : how much do they cost?

Question

i have quite a narrow upper palate/jaw and problems because of this , i will have to at some point visit an orthodontist - a friend has said i will probably need a palatal expander but orthodontics are SOOO expensive in the uk does anyone know about how much they cost in the uk

p.s don't bother saying 'go to a dentist/orthodontist and ask because i have actually thought of that already so saying that would hardly be good advice would it?

ring around a few practises and get estimates..this should give you a good idea..dont be afraid to ask woman..
