Palate expander speech?

How long will it be before i start talking normal again since i got my palate expander on monday. This sucks im 16 and im gonna have braces and a palate expander on during prom. :(

Ugh I feel really bad for you. I'm fifteen now and I had an expander on back in fifth grade. It takes up more than half your mouth and it's hard to talk or even breath huh? But it will take some time before you get used to it being there, and it will always sound funny when you're saying K's or C's or S's. But just being able to talk without gagging may take several days. Good luck.
