Pale Mimosa dominates in her comeback run – Horseracing news
Pale Mimosa made a strong comeback in the sport, winning the Saval Beg Stakes in Ireland.
She had been out of action for quite some time, but did not show any signs of rustiness at all.
The four-year-old filly entered the Listed Race as the favourite to succeed. She was awarded a starting price of 5 to 4 and did not disappoint the bookies in the end.
Since the overall distance to cover was more than one mile, Pale Mimosa did not go out aggressively, once the traps were opened. She waited for the right moment and then finally increased her speed, entering the final furlong. Afterwards, she kept on getting
away from others and finished on top of the table by two and a half lengths.
The winning jockey Pat Smullen was really happy with the outcome of the race and said that it was a bit of a surprise for him that the young filly delivered such a strong show despite being away from action for quite some time.
According to the seasoned rider, “It was a difficult race because it was her first run for quite a while and she was going to need it a little bit, but her bit of class told. She's a progressive filly and was very good last year. You can see from the size
of her she was always going to get better with a bit more time.”
On the other hand, the successful trainer D. K. Weld was also delighted with the result, but he too claimed that the dominance of Pale Mimosa came as a surprise to the entire camp, as she had only started training a few days ago.
He added, “It was a very pleasing introductory run. She has been slow coming into her coat so we took our time with her. She really only came into it in the last ten days and considering that I thought it was a very good performance.”
Even though the triumphant filly’s camp was not expecting a strong show, the bookies had rated Pale Mimosa highly. Therefore, the punters placed a lot of bets in her favour and ended up being rewarded.
