The Rosanero have quashed all rumours suggesting that Maurizio Zamparini is in the market for the next season’s manager, stating that they have not decided as yet.
Zamparini, the Palermo president, gave a statement backing Cagliari President’s decision to fire their third manager this season.
The Rosanero chief appreciated the coaching skills of Lazio’s Edy Reja, stating that the club needs a “coach like Reja”.
Considering the recent dip in Aquile’s form, suggestions of Bortolo Mutti facing the boot have gathered pace. The Renzo Barbera outfit have subsequently dismissed all such suggestions and stated that Zamparini
has been misquoted.
Guglielmo Micciche, Palermo vice-president, responded to the claims and said that all such speculation was fabricated and no decision had been made. He further went on state:
“We read about this story in the newspapers. This is an invention because we haven’t yet decided what to do about next season and we are still waiting for the present campaign to finish.”
The speculated interest in the 66-year-old is understandable, Reja’s experience and success through the years has been really impressive. Probably one of his greatest feats has to be the success he enjoyed
with http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Napoli-c40003. The Azzurri were in Serie C when Reja joined them, and he helped them regain their long lost pride by promoting them to the Serie A. The Italian has managed Lazio extremely well this season given their injury concerns.
Despite the fact that they are not in the best of forms at this precise moment, they are still sitting in the 3rd position of the Serie A.
Credit has to be given to the former Genoa tactician, who has managed his squad with tact and brilliance. He has been able to extract the most out of his team, and has motivated despite the selection concerns
he has to deal with.
And while speaking to La http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Lazio-c39775 Siamo Noi, Micciche remarked:
“We’ve never thought about Reja. Perhaps Zamparini’s words when he spoke about a ‘Coach like Reja’ were misinterpreted. That didn’t mean that the Lazio boss is an objective of ours...”
Reja has had troubles of his own at the Biancocelesti, having handed his resignation twice this season.
