Palermo president admits €50 million offer by http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 enough to lure Javier Pastore away
Maurizio Zamparini, the Palermo president, revealed that the 21-year-old attacking midfielder http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Javier-Pastore-c18082 could be making a move to English Premier League side Chelsea.
The Blues are reportedly prepared to offer €50 million for the services of the Argentinean midfielder.
However there has been no confirmation so far from either side of an official offer by Chelsea for Pastore.
It is believed that Chelsea will face competition from top European clubs in order to sign the 21-year-old playmaker.
So far La Liga giants http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Real-c30728 Madrid and Barcelona, along with English Premier League rivals Manchester United and Manchester City are keeping an eye on Pastore.
Even though the Palermo president was determined not to let the young midfielder leave the club, he admitted he could be forced to sell him if the offer was right.
Previously http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Roma-c31603 were said to have made a €30 million bid for the Palermo star, a fee which was not acceptable to Zamparini.
However, an improved offer of €50 million will be hard to turn down by Zamparini, even if the player in question is Pastore.
Zamparini said while speaking to reporters:
“How could anyone turn down €50m cash for Pastore? I never saw such an offer. Do you think if they put that money on the table, that I would throw it away?
I don’t know if Chelsea ever made this offer. It might’ve been to his agent, but it never reached me. If it did arrive, then I would think about it carefully.”
The Serie A outfit president confirmed that he had yet to receive an offer, but admitted he would most likely accept such an offer.
He was certain the player would be tempted by a move to a top European club where he was given a chance to make much more than he was currently making.
The Palermo president continued:
“Pastore is a player worthy of top clubs, like http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Inter-c39567.
He is tied to the Palermo jersey, but he also looks at his wallet. How can I keep a player when elsewhere they are offering four times his current wages?”
The statement by Zamparini makes it seem like Pastore will be nearing a Palermo exit as soon as an adequate offer is made.
While at Argentinean side Huracan, Pastore was linked to the likes of Manchester United, Chelsea, AC Milan and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/FC-Porto-c39186 but chose to move to Palermo.
He completed a move to the Serie A side in the summer of 2009 for a fee of $8 million, where he has done well to make a name for himself.
In his first season at the club, Pastore made 35 appearances, scoring 3 goals and providing 5 assists.
His goal tally improved drastically in his second season at Palermo, as he scored 14 times and provided 6 assists in 41 appearances.
In http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Total-c40747, he has made 78 appearances in all competitions for the club and has scored an impressive 17 goals with 11 assists.
