Palermo president and vice president hint Javier Pastore to end up at http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786
Guglielmo Micciche, the Palermo vice president, revealed that the 22-year-old attacking midfielder http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Javier-Pastore-c18082 was close to an exit. He revealed there was a possibility that the Argentinean would join English Premier League giants Chelsea, who have been
amongst the many clubs trying to sign Pastore since the beginning of the summer transfer window.
The likes of AS http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Barcelona-c38604, Real Madrid, Manchester City and AC Milan have all shown interest in Pastore, but it seems the Blues will win the race to securing his signature. While Pastore initially claimed he would not be leaving Palermo, he has now
said he wants to make a move to a big club in the current transfer window.
Micciche admitted that Pastore was close to a Palermo exit, he said while speaking to reporters: “There is no doubt that he (Pastore) should be sold for several reasons. He wants a big club and negotiations are well advanced with a very important team.
Very likely, he will go to Chelsea, but I think there are many other clubs of that level looking at the boy.”
The Palermo vice president revealed the player had made it clear he would only move to a prestigious side, he continued: “He wants a big club and there are advanced talks with very important teams. His agent [http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Marcelo-c23554 Simonian] is working very well, and
if someone pays the right money then we will be happy to sell him. If not, we will keep him.”
Pastore is contracted to the Serie A side until the end of the 2014 season and is expected to cost the London side somewhere between €45-50 million. The result of the negotiations between the two sides will be announced in about 10 days, with the Palermo
president Maurizio Zamparini revealed he expected an agreement in the upcoming days.
Pastore arrived at Palermo from Huracan in the summer of 2009 for a fee of £5 million on a long-term five year deal. Since then he has gone on to make 78 appearances in all competitions for the Italian outfit, scoring 17 goals and providing 11 assists. While
Palermo failed to claim silverware, they finished Coppa Italia runners-up in the 2010-2011 season.
Along with Tottenham Hotspur midfielder http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Luka-Modric-c22857, Chelsea have continued their interest in Pastore. The Blues have so far been unsuccessful in their persistent efforts in trying to reach an agreement with the Spurs over the 25-year-old Croatian midfielder,
which is why they have turned all their attention on signing the young Argentinean.
It was rumoured the Blues would offer Palermo a player along with payment in exchange for Pastore in order to offload some of the older players, but the Serie A side have made it very clear they are not interested in an exchange deal. Micciche confirmed
the club would not entertain any exchange offers for Pastore, he said: “Let it be clear, we do not want any players as part of the deal.”
