Palermo wait to see if Chelsea manager Andre Villas-Boas is interested in Javier Pastore
Palermo president Maurizio Zamparini revealed he was uncertain whether English Premier League giants http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Javier-Pastore-c18082.
During the 30 day period when the Blues were without a manager, after having sacked Carlo Ancelotti at the end of last season, Chelsea were keen on signing Pastore.
However, with former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Argentina-c2841 international.
Zamparini said while speaking to reporters:
“Pastore is phenomenal and three or four clubs are interested.
Chelsea is one of them, but we must wait and see what their new coach Villas-Boas wants.
The same goes for Juventus, although they seem less interested than the English.”
While Villa-Boas is understood to have an estimated £130 million available to him for summer signings, he is yet to identify his targets.
The players identified by the management at Stamford Bridge before Villas-Boas’ arrival might not necessarily be on the young Portuguese manager’s list.
Chelsea were previously linked with the likes of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Sergio-c33030 Aguero and Javier Pastore.
The 33-year-old manager seems to have unofficially identified a list on entirely different players, such as http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Alexis-Sánchez-c4979.
Falcao, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Hulk-c16436 and Moutinho were with Villas-Boas at Porto, where they more than proved themselves in the 2010-2011 season.
Porto went on to win four major trophies last season, including the Primeira League and the UEFA Europa League.
Having taken charge at Chelsea, Villas-Boas is set to make major changes at the English Premier League outfit.
While he has not yet identified his targets for the summer transfer window, he has apparently already decided which players to offload.
Most players above the age of 30 years are said to be heading towards a Stamford Bridge exit before the start of next season.
That list includes the likes of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Florent-Malouda-c13838, all of whom failed to impress last season.
Then there are the players who have not reached their 30’s but will most likely face a Chelsea exit, simply because of their poor form last season; http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Salomon-Kalou-c32266.
The main reason for Villas-Boas’ wish to sell some players before he starts spending is the need to make room for new arrivals.
If there are no players offloaded in the summer then Chelsea will have some six strikers, assuming they buy at least two of their targeted forwards.
There is no way Villas-Boas will be able to accommodate that many strikers, which is why he will need to sell some players as he looks to rearrange the Blues.
With a host of players linked with a move to Chelsea, it remains to be seen if Villas-Boas continues interest in Pastore.
Having transferred to Palermo in the 2009-2010 season, Pastore has scored 17 goals and provided 11 assists in 78 appearances for the club in all competitions.
